This is a collaborative experience in analysis of variance tests (ANOVA) for an upper-level (though not necessarily AP) high school statistics class.
Students will be grouped by interest to research a recent (in the last 5 years) study that includes raw data, identifying what variables are being tested and compared, then showing the calculations reflected in the results section of the study. Suggestions on topics include things in psychology, medicine, or physics.
It's a cross-subject project that introduces students to finding and analyzing an academic study, working in small groups to interpret raw data, exercising skills in class related to ANOVA and hypothesis testing, and giving experience in an online learning environment.
