Geometry is Plane Fun

Title: Geometry is Plane Fun Lesson Plan

Audience: fourth grade math class

Prerequisite Skills/Knowledge: an understanding of shapes and their categories (i.e. rhombuses, rectangles, triangles, etc.). Drawing examples of shapes. Differentiating shapes as well as recognizing their similarities (i.e. having four sides). Students should be able to identify examples of quadrilaterals (i.e. rhombuses, rectangles, and squares).

Goals: understanding and confident in geometric elements and properties.

Objectives:

·      Identify lines and angles.

·      Classify shapes (two-dimensional figures) by their lines and angles.

·      Draw shapes, angles, and lines.

·      Recognize a line of symmetry.
