In this three hour course, we are going to learn about the history and evolution of Hanzi, the six categories of creating Hanzi and the techniques of writing and memorizing Chinese characters.
Hanzi is known as pictographic (not phonetic) and thus the writing system of Chinese is a different concept from English writing system. While learning thousands of characters sounds intimidating, Hanzi is also the one of the oldest writing system that is still in use today, therefore there are many interesting legends and stories related to its creation and evolution. There are also many strategies and techniques used for memorization of Hanzi.
After you obtain more knowledge of Hanzi, it becomes more fun and easier to learn new characters.
